Engineered wood, answered
Is engineered wood waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
Oiled or lacquered?
An oiled finish looks and feels more natural and can be spot-repaired, but needs re-oiling from time to time. A lacquered finish is easier to look after day to day.
What do Select and Rustic mean?
Select grade has fewer, smaller knots for a cleaner look. Rustic grade shows more knots and colour variation for a more characterful floor.
Can it go over underfloor heating?
Yes, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
