About Wardle Oak

Cool greige with a soft stone-grey cast, Wardle Oak has been stained to tone down oak’s natural yellow. The result is a muted, sandy grey-beige, with the grain showing as fine swirls and long waves underneath. Knots are scattered through the boards, softened by the stain into darker grey-brown marks, and there are a few small splits for rustic character. Light brushing gives a slight texture, and the lacquer adds a low, even sheen.

It sits well in contemporary and Scandinavian homes and is a natural match for grey kitchens, white walls, charcoal sofas, black window frames and natural stone. Use it in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and in kitchens with sensible care.

Wide 190 x 1900mm planks keep the floor calm and spacious. The same colour also comes in GF Herringbone, so you can lay planks in an open-plan space and switch to herringbone in a hallway or dining room while keeping the colour consistent.

Underneath is a 3mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base, so it can be sanded and refinished later. It suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Wardle Oak

How many packs of Wardle Oak do I need?

Each pack covers 2.888 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 2.888 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 6 packs.

Is Wardle Oak waterproof?

No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.

Can Wardle Oak go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

How is it fitted?

It can be fitted by gluing down or floating, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can it be sanded?

Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
