About Malpas Oak
Amber and burnished gold, Malpas Oak has a warm, slightly coppery tone that glows in lamplight. The grain is strong and expressive, with tall cathedral arches and long flame patterns that the brushing has picked out so they stand proud of the surface. Knots are fairly few, with the odd darker one adding a rustic touch, and colour moves gently between honey and deeper amber from board to board. The oiled finish is soft and low in sheen.
It suits traditional and country homes, as well as warm, earthy modern schemes. Lay it in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, or kitchens with sensible care. Cream walls, olive or forest green paint, rust and ochre textiles, rattan and brass all bring out its warmth.
Planks measure 125 x 300–1200mm in mixed lengths, so the floor builds up into a lively, staggered pattern with plenty of joints, a classic look that works well in hallways, cottages and smaller rooms.
A 3mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base means it can be sanded and refinished in years to come, and it suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Malpas Oak
How many packs of Malpas Oak do I need?
Each pack covers 1.44 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 1.44 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 12 packs.
Is Malpas Oak waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Malpas Oak go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
