Every board has its own grain, and the floor can be sanded and refinished. The thicker top layer means this can be done more times.

Stable multi-layer base

Moves far less than solid wood with changes in temperature and humidity.

Underfloor heating

Suitable for water or electric systems, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Lacquered finish

Easy to look after day to day.

Glue down or nailed

We recommend a professional fitter.

25-year residential guarantee

When fitted by a competent professional following the GF installation guide.

About Bowdon Oak

Bowdon is a warm honey-amber oak with a distressed, reclaimed character. Long dark cracks and fissures run along many of the planks, with dark knots and a lightly textured, saw-marked surface. The colour is lighter and more golden than a typical aged oak, which keeps the floor bright and inviting. The brushed lacquered finish has a low sheen.

It suits open-plan kitchens with sensible care, living rooms, dining rooms and hallways, especially in country houses, cottages and barn conversions. Pair it with white or warm plaster walls, exposed beams, natural stone, linen and black iron fittings.

The 220 x 2200mm planks are extra wide and long. They make a large room feel calm and generous, and give the cracks and grain room to show.

There is a 4mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base, so the floor can be sanded and refinished. It suits underfloor heating up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Bowdon Oak

How many packs of Bowdon Oak do I need?

Each pack covers 2.9 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 2.9 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 6 packs.

Is Bowdon Oak waterproof?

No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.

Can Bowdon Oak go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

How is it fitted?

It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can it be sanded?

Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
