About Baddiley Oak Herringbone
Baddiley is a warm, honey-natural oak with plenty of life in the grain. Open cathedral figure, swirling patterns around knots and the occasional small split show that this is real timber. Colour moves gently between golden and slightly paler planks, and the oiled finish gives it a soft, natural sheen rather than a hard coat. It feels warm, relaxed and quietly traditional.
It is at home in light living rooms with grey sofas, oak furniture and white walls, and in dining rooms with linen, ceramics and plenty of plants. Kitchens are fine with sensible care, and it looks lovely running through a hallway into the main living space.
The planks are 125 x 600mm, which makes this a large, bold herringbone. The wider, longer pieces create a confident zigzag that suits big rooms and open-plan spaces, where small parquet could feel busy.
Its 4mm oak top layer sits on a stable multi-layer base and can be sanded and refinished when needed. It is Select grade and suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Baddiley Oak Herringbone
How many packs of Baddiley Oak Herringbone do I need?
Each pack covers 1.2 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 1.2 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 15 packs.
Is Baddiley Oak Herringbone waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Baddiley Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
