About Cholmondeley Oak
Pale and raw, Cholmondeley Oak shows the timber before any colour or coating goes on: a light beige with a faint blush of pink and a dry, chalky look. The grain is gentle and long, drifting along the planks in loose waves rather than tight swirls. Small pin knots appear here and there, with the odd larger knot as a reminder this is a rustic grade, but the floor reads calm and even. The surface is smooth to the touch.
Because it arrives unfinished, you choose how it ends up. A clear matt oil keeps it pale and Scandinavian, a tinted oil can warm it up or cool it down, and a lacquer gives a tougher sheen. That makes it ideal for matching existing joinery.
Once finished, it suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways, and kitchens with sensible care. White walls, pale linen and light ash or birch furniture keep the look airy.
The 190 x 1900mm planks are wide and long, so the floor looks open and uncluttered. A 3mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base means it can be sanded and refinished later, and it suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Cholmondeley Oak
How many packs of Cholmondeley Oak do I need?
Each pack covers 2.166 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 2.166 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 8 packs.
Is Cholmondeley Oak waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Cholmondeley Oak go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
