About Smithy Oak
There is a lot of warmth in Smithy Oak. Its golden apricot tone, touched with honey, makes a room feel inviting straight away. The grain sweeps across the boards in long, open arches, and small dark knots are sprinkled throughout, some with fine cracks trailing along the grain. Tone varies gently from one plank to the next, from light gold to slightly richer amber. Brushing has given the surface a subtle texture, and the oiled finish leaves it matt and natural, like timber that has simply been well looked after.
It brings warmth to living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and suits kitchens with sensible care. Try it with sage or cream kitchens, soft grey sofas, terracotta, natural linen and brass lighting, in country homes or modern family spaces.
At 190 x 1900mm, the planks are wide and long, giving a calm, open floor with fewer joins and room for the grain to show.
A 3mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base means it can be sanded and refinished in years to come. It also suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Smithy Oak
How many packs of Smithy Oak do I need?
Each pack covers 2.166 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 2.166 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 8 packs.
Is Smithy Oak waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Smithy Oak go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
