Features and benefits

4mm real oak top layer

Every board has its own grain, and the floor can be sanded and refinished. The thicker top layer means this can be done more times.

Stable multi-layer base

Moves far less than solid wood with changes in temperature and humidity.

Underfloor heating

Suitable for water or electric systems, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Oiled finish

A natural look and feel, and it can be spot-repaired. Re-oil from time to time.

Select grade

Fewer, smaller knots for a cleaner look.

Glue down or nailed

We recommend a professional fitter.

25-year residential guarantee

When fitted by a competent professional following the GF installation guide.

About Ridley Oak Herringbone

Warm, golden and full of life, Ridley shows oak at its most natural. The colour is a bright straw-honey, and the grain is bold: big cathedral arches, swirls and straight lines, with the odd dark knot that catches the eye. Planks vary in tone from pale to mid-gold, so the floor has natural depth. The brushed oiled finish is matt and soft.

It suits family living rooms, dining rooms, hallways and kitchen-diners with sensible care. It looks good with white or cream walls, grey or green upholstery, rattan and warm timber furniture. It also has the right feel for cottages and barn conversions.

The 125 x 600mm planks make a large, bold herringbone. The bigger scale lets the grain show off and suits open rooms, where the pattern can run across the space.

It has a 4mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base, so it can be sanded and re-oiled. It suits underfloor heating up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Ridley Oak Herringbone

How many packs of Ridley Oak Herringbone do I need?

Each pack covers 1.2 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 1.2 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 15 packs.

Is Ridley Oak Herringbone waterproof?

No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.

Can Ridley Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

How is it fitted?

It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can it be sanded?

Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
