About Tabley Oak Herringbone
Tabley is a rich, golden amber oak with a warm, glowing tone. The grain is fine and well defined, with straight lines and some flowing arches picked out in a slightly deeper shade. Colour is fairly even across the planks, which gives the floor a polished, tailored look, and knots are minimal. The brushed oiled finish is matt, so the warmth comes from the wood rather than a shine.
It suits traditional living rooms, dining rooms, studies and hallways, and kitchens with sensible care. It looks good with white, cream or deep green walls, dark wood or leather furniture, and brass or antique bronze fittings. It also brings warmth to cooler, north-facing rooms.
At 80 x 350mm the planks are slim, making a neat herringbone with a refined, traditional rhythm. It suits period homes and gives smaller rooms a crafted feel.
This 20mm floor has a 6mm real oak top layer, so it can be sanded and re-oiled many times over its life.

Frequently asked questions about Tabley Oak Herringbone
How many packs of Tabley Oak Herringbone do I need?
Each pack covers 1.12 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 1.12 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 16 packs.
Is Tabley Oak Herringbone waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Tabley Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
