Features and benefits

4mm real oak top layer

Every board has its own grain, and the floor can be sanded and refinished. The thicker top layer means this can be done more times.

Stable multi-layer base

Moves far less than solid wood with changes in temperature and humidity.

Underfloor heating

Suitable for water or electric systems, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Oiled finish

A natural look and feel, and it can be spot-repaired. Re-oil from time to time.

Select grade

Fewer, smaller knots for a cleaner look.

Glue down or nailed

We recommend a professional fitter.

25-year residential guarantee

When fitted by a competent professional following the GF installation guide.

About Prestbury Oak Herringbone

Prestbury is a pale, whitened oak with a soft peach warmth and bold, decorative grain. Strong cathedral arches run along the planks, and the white finish settles into the grain so the figure stands out clearly. A few small grey knots add character. The smooth oiled surface is completely matt, so the floor looks natural and calm despite its strong markings.

It suits large, bright living spaces, open-plan kitchen-diners with sensible care, and wide hallways. Pair it with warm white walls, oatmeal or grey linen, pale oak and natural fibre rugs. It also works with sage green, dusky pink and other soft colours.

At 125 x 600mm, these are wide, long herringbone planks. The pattern is bold and spacious, which suits bigger rooms where small parquet could look busy.

Underneath is a 4mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base, so the surface can be sanded and re-oiled. Select grade keeps knots few and small.

Frequently asked questions about Prestbury Oak Herringbone

How many packs of Prestbury Oak Herringbone do I need?

Each pack covers 1.2 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 1.2 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 15 packs.

Is Prestbury Oak Herringbone waterproof?

No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.

Can Prestbury Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

How is it fitted?

It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can it be sanded?

Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
