About Semerwater Birch
Semerwater is a soft off-white birch with a gentle grey tint. The grain is faint and fine, with light arches that only appear when you look closely, and there are hardly any knots. Boards change very little in tone, so the floor reads as one pale, even sweep. The matt finish gives it a whitewashed, Scandinavian look that bounces light around the room.
It is ideal where you want a bright, minimal feel: grey or white sofas, pale oak furniture, linen, stone-coloured walls and large potted plants. In a kitchen it lightens dark or painted units, and it is clean and calm in bathrooms and hallways.
The long, wide 185 x 1229mm planks keep joints few and lines long, so even smaller rooms feel more open. Across a large space the floor looks restful and continuous. The same colour also comes in Herringbone, so you can add a pattern in a hallway or dining area and keep the same pale tone.
It is 100% waterproof and suits underfloor heating up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Semerwater Birch
How many packs of Semerwater Birch do I need?
Each pack covers 2.27 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 2.27 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 8 packs.
Is Semerwater Birch waterproof?
Yes. It is a 100% waterproof vinyl floor, so it suits kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and hallways.
Can Semerwater Birch go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It is glued to a smooth, level, dry subfloor, usually after a smoothing compound at least 3mm thick, then rolled. There is no underlay. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Is 0.7mm worth it over 0.55mm?
If the floor takes heavy daily traffic, such as a hallway straight off the front door, a busy kitchen, large dogs or a shop, yes. For most other rooms 0.55mm is plenty.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a lifetime residential guarantee, which means 35 years from the date of purchase. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
