About Aldford Oak
Aldford is a rich cognac oak with a deep copper-russet warmth. The grain is bold and swirling, with dark pores that pick out every cathedral arch and loop. The Rustic grade brings clusters of knots and natural character marks, and planks vary a little in depth of colour. Its brushed oiled finish is matt, so the colour looks deep and natural rather than glossy.
This is a floor for warm, traditional interiors: living rooms, dining rooms, studies and hallways, and kitchens with sensible care. Cream, warm white, deep green and navy walls suit it, as do leather, velvet, brass and dark wood. It also brings warmth to cottages and older homes.
At 150 x 1900mm, the planks are long and classic in width. They run in clean lines, which helps the room feel calm and settled despite the rich colour and strong grain.
It has a 3mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base, so it can be sanded and re-oiled. It suits underfloor heating up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Aldford Oak
How many packs of Aldford Oak do I need?
Each pack covers 2.28 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 2.28 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 8 packs.
Is Aldford Oak waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Aldford Oak go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
