About Wardle Oak Herringbone

Wardle has been stained a soft greige, a cool mushroom-taupe with a hint of lilac grey. The grain is gentle and mostly straight, with light arches, and the Rustic grade brings small dark knots and the odd character mark. Planks vary a little in tone, some cooler, some warmer. The lacquer leaves a smooth, low sheen.

It suits kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and works in a kitchen with sensible care. Pair it with white, pale grey or soft stone walls, grey and charcoal fabrics, black metal and chrome. It is a good choice for modern homes that want a cooler floor.

With 90 x 360mm planks, the herringbone has a compact, classic scale. The same colour also comes in the GF Plank format, so you can run herringbone in one room and planks in the next while keeping the tone consistent.

The 3mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base can be sanded and refinished, and it suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Wardle Oak Herringbone

How many packs of Wardle Oak Herringbone do I need?

Each pack covers 1.296 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 1.296 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 14 packs.

Is Wardle Oak Herringbone waterproof?

No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.

Can Wardle Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

How is it fitted?

It can be fitted by gluing down, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can it be sanded?

Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
