About Embsay Walnut Herringbone
Deep cocoa-brown walnut gives this herringbone a rich, settled character. Up close the grain is fine and wavy, with long soft streaks, the odd pin knot and warmer chestnut tones underneath that come forward in sunlight. Across a whole room it reads as a darker, slightly cooler brown with only gentle shifts from plank to plank. The matt finish keeps it looking like oiled walnut parquet rather than anything shiny.
It grounds a living room or study with chalk-white or warm plaster walls, mid-century furniture, green plants and brass lamps. In a kitchen it sits well under cream or pale grey units, and being vinyl it is just as at home in a hallway or bathroom.
At 115 x 460mm the planks are small, so the zigzag is close and busy: the traditional parquet look for period terraces, hallways and smaller rooms. The same colour also comes in Plank, so long boards can run through an open-plan space while the herringbone marks out a hallway or dining area.
It is 100% waterproof and glued to a smooth, prepared subfloor, with a 0.7mm wear layer made for the busiest homes and light commercial spaces.

Frequently asked questions about Embsay Walnut Herringbone
How many packs of Embsay Walnut Herringbone do I need?
Each pack covers 1.48 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 1.48 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 12 packs.
Is Embsay Walnut Herringbone waterproof?
Yes. It is a 100% waterproof vinyl floor, so it suits kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and hallways.
Can Embsay Walnut Herringbone go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It is glued to a smooth, level, dry subfloor, usually after a smoothing compound at least 3mm thick, then rolled. There is no underlay. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Herringbone or chevron: what is the difference?
Herringbone planks are cut square and laid in a staggered zigzag. Chevron planks are cut at an angle, so the ends meet in a clean, continuous point.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a lifetime residential guarantee, which means 35 years from the date of purchase. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
