About Stamford Oak
Stamford Oak brings deep chocolate and coffee brown to a room. The colour is darkest in the brushed grain, so the oak’s arches and tight lines show through as a fine pattern across each board. Knots are small and blend into the tone, and there is a subtle shift between warmer, reddish-brown planks and cooler, deeper ones. The oiled finish gives a soft, low sheen rather than gloss, keeping the look warm and natural.
It suits traditional and period homes, in studies, dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and kitchens with sensible care. Cream and off-white walls give a strong contrast, while deep green, ox-blood or navy paint, leather chesterfields, brass and velvet make it feel cosy and classic.
Mixed lengths in 125 x 300–1200mm planks create a busy, staggered pattern of short joints, the look of a classic strip floor. It is a good choice for hallways and smaller rooms in older properties.
Under the colour is a 3mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base, so it can be sanded and refinished in years to come. It suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Stamford Oak
How many packs of Stamford Oak do I need?
Each pack covers 1.8 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 1.8 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 10 packs.
Is Stamford Oak waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Stamford Oak go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
