About Clotton Oak

Sandy, pale and gently grey-beige, Clotton Oak has the washed, natural colour of oak that has never seen a stain. The grain is bold for such a light floor, with tight arches and oval swirls on many boards and straighter lines on others. Small dark knots and clusters of pin knots are scattered across the surface, and colour moves from creamy to a slightly darker biscuit between planks. The oiled finish is matt and smooth, so the wood looks honest and unfussy.

Its light, neutral tone suits cottages, terraces and Scandinavian-style rooms alike. Try it in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and dining rooms, or a kitchen with sensible care, alongside white or pale grey walls, natural linen, rattan and light oak furniture.

The 125 x 300–1200mm planks come in mixed lengths. Laid together, the short and long pieces create a busy, traditional rhythm with lots of staggered joints, which suits smaller rooms and period homes where a very wide board can feel too big.

A 3mm real oak top layer sits on a stable multi-layer base, so the floor can be sanded and refinished later, and it works with underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Clotton Oak

How many packs of Clotton Oak do I need?

Each pack covers 1.8 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 1.8 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 10 packs.

Is Clotton Oak waterproof?

No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.

Can Clotton Oak go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

How is it fitted?

It can be fitted by gluing down or floating, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can it be sanded?

Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
