About Marthall Oak Herringbone
Marthall is a natural mid-tone oak with honest, rustic character. The colour is a warm sandy beige with a slight grey cast, and the grain swings between flowing cathedral figure and tighter straight lines. Small dark knots appear across the planks, and there is a pleasing variation in tone from plank to plank. A lightly brushed lacquered surface keeps the sheen low and the texture subtle.
It works in kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, in both country and contemporary homes. In a kitchen it does well with sensible care. Pair it with soft white or greige walls, grey or oatmeal upholstery, warm timber and matt black fittings.
The 91 x 600mm planks are long and slim, giving an elongated herringbone. The zigzag stretches further across the room, so the pattern feels calmer and more modern than short parquet, while still drawing the eye.
A 3mm real oak top layer on a stable multi-layer base means it can be sanded and refinished, and it suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Marthall Oak Herringbone
How many packs of Marthall Oak Herringbone do I need?
Each pack covers 3.024 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 3.024 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 6 packs.
Is Marthall Oak Herringbone waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Marthall Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
