A natural look and feel, and it can be spot-repaired. Re-oil from time to time.

About Farndon Oak Herringbone
Farndon is golden caramel oak with plenty of movement. The grain runs in long, sweeping arches, and dark smoky streaks and small knots break up the warm honey tone in places. Some planks are lighter and more straw-coloured, others a deeper amber, so the floor has a gentle, natural variation. The brushed oiled finish is matt, with grain you can feel.
It feels at home in generous living rooms, open-plan kitchen-diners with sensible care, and wide hallways. The warm golden tone works well with off-white and warm grey walls, linen upholstery, dark wood or black accents, and plenty of greenery. It also suits barn conversions and country-style homes.
At 125 x 600mm these are large planks for herringbone, so the pattern is bold and confident. Each zigzag is wide and long, which suits bigger rooms and stops the floor looking fussy.
Under the oil sits a 4mm real oak top layer that can be sanded and refreshed in future. It suits underfloor heating up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Farndon Oak Herringbone
How many packs of Farndon Oak Herringbone do I need?
Each pack covers 1.2 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 1.2 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 15 packs.
Is Farndon Oak Herringbone waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Farndon Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
