About Cuddington Oak Herringbone

Soft, pale and quietly Scandinavian, Cuddington has a whitewashed finish that leaves the oak a creamy beige with the faintest blush of pink. The grain shows through as gentle arches and fine lines rather than strong figure, and the brushed surface gives it a soft, touchable texture. Here and there a tiny pin knot or a slightly deeper plank adds life, but the overall effect is calm and even, with a low, satin lacquer sheen.

It suits light-filled living rooms, bedrooms and open-plan spaces where you want the floor to recede and let the room breathe. Pair it with white or pale grey walls, oatmeal linen, light timber furniture and pale stone. In a kitchen it works well with sensible care, especially alongside white or soft putty cabinets.

At 90 x 300mm the planks are short and fairly slim, so the herringbone reads as a close, busy pattern. That suits period terraces and smaller rooms, where it adds detail without feeling heavy.

The 3mm real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished, and the Select grade keeps knots few and small.

Frequently asked questions about Cuddington Oak Herringbone

How many packs of Cuddington Oak Herringbone do I need?

Each pack covers 1.512 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 1.512 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 12 packs.

Is Cuddington Oak Herringbone waterproof?

No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.

Can Cuddington Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

How is it fitted?

It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can it be sanded?

Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
