About Calveley Oak Herringbone
Calveley is a light natural oak with a mixed, relaxed palette. Most planks are pale honey, but some are deeper brown or slightly smoky, and small dark knots are scattered through the floor. Brushing gives a gentle texture you can feel, and the oiled finish keeps it matt and close to the look of bare wood. The effect is natural, informal and lived-in.
It suits country and modern homes alike, with grey linen sofas, oak furniture, olive trees in pots, white walls and big garden doors. It works in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and kitchens with sensible care.
At 80 x 300mm the planks are small, so the herringbone is close and busy, the classic parquet scale. The tonal mix makes each zigzag stand out a little, which suits period homes and adds warmth to a modern room.
Its 3mm real oak top layer sits on a stable multi-layer base and can be sanded and refinished in future. It suits underfloor heating up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Calveley Oak Herringbone
How many packs of Calveley Oak Herringbone do I need?
Each pack covers 0.96 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 0.96 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 18 packs.
Is Calveley Oak Herringbone waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Calveley Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
