Moves far less than solid wood with changes in temperature and humidity.

Underfloor heating

Suitable for water or electric systems, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Oiled finish

A natural look and feel, and it can be spot-repaired. Re-oil from time to time.

About Bunbury Oak Herringbone

Bunbury is a warm tan oak with a hint of smoke in the grain. Deep brushing has opened the texture, so the grain stands out in fine, darker lines across a caramel base. Some planks are paler and sandier, others richer and browner, giving the floor depth and a crafted feel. Knots are kept small and few, and the oiled finish is soft and matt.

It is a natural partner for grey sofas, oak or walnut furniture, black-framed windows, woven baskets and warm white walls. It works in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and in kitchens with sensible care.

At 70 x 350mm the planks are slim and long, so the herringbone is fine and detailed, with a graceful rhythm. It suits period homes and modern spaces alike, and looks especially good where the pattern can run uninterrupted.

The 5mm real oak top layer sits on a stable multi-layer base and can be sanded and refinished more than once over its life. It is Select grade and suits underfloor heating up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Bunbury Oak Herringbone

How many packs of Bunbury Oak Herringbone do I need?

Each pack covers 0.735 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 0.735 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 24 packs.

Is Bunbury Oak Herringbone waterproof?

No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.

Can Bunbury Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

How is it fitted?

It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can it be sanded?

Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
