About Bulkeley Oak Herringbone
Bulkeley is a pale oak with a soft, smoky cast. The smoking has drawn out greyish streaks in the grain and a slightly chalky, washed look across the surface, while knots and small splits add rustic character. Planks shift between creamy blond, light grey and a touch of pink, so the floor feels natural and relaxed. The oiled finish keeps it matt.
It suits relaxed, layered interiors: grey or stone sofas, raw plaster walls, oak furniture, linen and dried flowers. It looks lovely in living rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and kitchens are fine with sensible care.
The planks are 70 x 350mm, slim and long, which gives a fine, detailed herringbone with plenty of movement. It brings character to period homes and makes a modern room feel crafted and considered.
A 5mm real oak top layer sits on a stable multi-layer base, giving plenty of timber for sanding and refinishing over the years. It is Rustic grade, so expect more knots and colour variation, and it suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Bulkeley Oak Herringbone
How many packs of Bulkeley Oak Herringbone do I need?
Each pack covers 0.735 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 0.735 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 24 packs.
Is Bulkeley Oak Herringbone waterproof?
No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.
Can Bulkeley Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
How is it fitted?
It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can it be sanded?
Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
