About Bickerton Oak Herringbone

Bickerton is a deeper amber and toffee oak with strong, open grain. Brushing brings the grain into relief, and the lacquer gives it a soft glow. Planks range from golden through to a richer brown, so the herringbone has natural depth and contrast. Small knots appear occasionally, but the overall look is tidy and classic, with the warmth of a well-loved parquet.

It sits well in traditional and modern homes alike: grey or mustard sofas, dark green walls, brass lamps, oak furniture and leafy plants. It suits living rooms, dining rooms and studies, and kitchens with sensible care.

At 90 x 300mm the planks form a compact, detailed herringbone. The close pattern adds richness to period rooms and hallways, and it holds its own in larger spaces too, where the warmer colour keeps the room feeling cosy.

Under the 3mm real oak top layer is a stable multi-layer base, and the surface can be sanded and refinished later on. It suits underfloor heating up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Bickerton Oak Herringbone

How many packs of Bickerton Oak Herringbone do I need?

Each pack covers 1.51 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 1.51 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 12 packs.

Is Bickerton Oak Herringbone waterproof?

No. It is real wood, so it is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Wipe up spills promptly. It works well in kitchens with sensible care, but for bathrooms and utility rooms choose GF Glue Down LVT or GF Click SPC.

Can Bickerton Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

How is it fitted?

It can be fitted by gluing down or nailing, with a 10–12mm expansion gap at the walls. Herringbone is laid from the centre of the room and is glued or nailed, never floated. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can it be sanded?

Yes. The real oak top layer can be sanded and refinished. The thicker the top layer, the more times that can be done, so a 4mm or 6mm top layer gives you more life than 3mm.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a 25-year residential guarantee. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
