About Hawes Oak Herringbone
A warm caramel oak with a clean, refined grain. Hawes sits in the mid-tone range, with honey and toffee notes and a soft golden glow. The grain runs mostly in fine straight lines with an occasional gentle arch, and knots are very few. Colour varies slightly between planks, just enough to give the herringbone some depth. The matt surface keeps it natural, and the overall effect is classic and quietly rich.
It suits traditional and modern homes alike, from living rooms and dining rooms to kitchens and hallways. Pair it with cream or white walls, navy, forest green or plaster pink paintwork, brass fittings and natural wool rugs.
The 118 x 590mm planks make a compact herringbone with a busy, traditional look, ideal for period homes and smaller rooms. The same colour also comes as a plank, GF Glue Down 0.55 herringbone and GF Glue Down 0.55 plank, so rooms can flow together.
It is 100% waterproof with a rigid stone-composite core, and the 0.55mm wear layer is the all-round choice for busy family homes.

Frequently asked questions about Hawes Oak Herringbone
How many packs of Hawes Oak Herringbone do I need?
Each pack covers 2.23 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 2.23 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 8 packs.
Is Hawes Oak Herringbone waterproof?
Yes. It is a 100% waterproof vinyl floor, so it suits kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and hallways.
Can Hawes Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
Can I fit it myself?
It is the quickest GF floor to fit: the planks click together and float over the subfloor, and the underlay is already attached. The subfloor still needs to be flat, clean and dry, with a 6–8mm expansion gap at every wall. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
What is SPC flooring?
SPC stands for stone plastic composite. It is a rigid core made mostly from limestone powder, with a printed design and a clear wear layer on top. It is harder and more stable than flexible vinyl, and it is 100% waterproof.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a lifetime residential guarantee, which means 35 years from the date of purchase. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
