About Hawes Oak
Hawes Oak has a well-worn, rustic character. The colour is a warm chestnut and tobacco brown, and the surface is crossed with pale scratches and scraped streaks that pick out the grain, as if the boards had come from an old barn. Cathedral figure and small knots appear here and there, and some planks run lighter or redder than others. The finish looks matt and textured rather than polished.
It sits happily in farmhouse kitchens, country living rooms and cosy snugs. Cream walls, cast iron, leather, wool throws and deep green paint all suit it. Fully waterproof, it handles kitchens, bathrooms and muddy hallways.
The 183 x 1220mm planks give the floor long lines that stop the rustic texture feeling cluttered. The same colour also comes in herringbone, GF Glue Down 0.55 herringbone and GF Glue Down 0.55 plank, for a hallway or dining room with a more traditional pattern.
A rigid stone-composite core clicks together and floats over the subfloor on its own attached underlay. The 0.55mm wear layer is the all-round choice for busy family homes.

Frequently asked questions about Hawes Oak
How many packs of Hawes Oak do I need?
Each pack covers 2.2 m². Measure the floor area, add 10% for cutting, then divide by 2.2 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 8 packs.
Is Hawes Oak waterproof?
Yes. It is a 100% waterproof vinyl floor, so it suits kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and hallways.
Can Hawes Oak go over underfloor heating?
Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.
Can I fit it myself?
It is the quickest GF floor to fit: the planks click together and float over the subfloor, and the underlay is already attached. The subfloor still needs to be flat, clean and dry, with a 6–8mm expansion gap at every wall. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
What is SPC flooring?
SPC stands for stone plastic composite. It is a rigid core made mostly from limestone powder, with a printed design and a clear wear layer on top. It is harder and more stable than flexible vinyl, and it is 100% waterproof.
What guarantee does it have?
It has a lifetime residential guarantee, which means 35 years from the date of purchase. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.
Can I order a free sample?
Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
