About Gayle Oak Herringbone

Golden and honeyed, Gayle is one of the warmer light oaks. Pronounced cathedral grain loops and arches across the planks, with fine darker lines that give the surface plenty of detail up close. There are few knots and the colour stays consistent, so from a distance it reads as an even, sunny tone. The matt finish has the look of oiled oak, giving a cheerful, mid-century feel.

It brings warmth to living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens, especially with white, cream or deep green units, mustard and rust accents, rattan and walnut furniture. It is a good way to stop a cool, north-facing room feeling flat.

With 118 x 590mm planks, the herringbone is compact and traditional, ideal for smaller rooms and period homes. The same colour also comes as a plank, GF Glue Down 0.55 herringbone and GF Glue Down 0.55 plank, so you can mix pattern and plank across connected spaces.

It is 100% waterproof and clicks together with the underlay already attached, and suits underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Frequently asked questions about Gayle Oak Herringbone

How many packs of Gayle Oak Herringbone do I need?

Each pack covers 2.23 m². Measure the floor area, add 15% for cutting, as patterned floors need more cuts than plank, then divide by 2.23 and round up. For a 15 m² room that is 8 packs.

Is Gayle Oak Herringbone waterproof?

Yes. It is a 100% waterproof vinyl floor, so it suits kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and hallways.

Can Gayle Oak Herringbone go over underfloor heating?

Yes. It is suitable for underfloor heating, water or electric, up to a floor surface temperature of 27°C.

Can I fit it myself?

It is the quickest GF floor to fit: the planks click together and float over the subfloor, and the underlay is already attached. The subfloor still needs to be flat, clean and dry, with a 6–8mm expansion gap at every wall. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

What is SPC flooring?

SPC stands for stone plastic composite. It is a rigid core made mostly from limestone powder, with a printed design and a clear wear layer on top. It is harder and more stable than flexible vinyl, and it is 100% waterproof.

What guarantee does it have?

It has a lifetime residential guarantee, which means 35 years from the date of purchase. To keep the GF guarantee, follow the GF installation guide and use a competent professional fitter.

Can I order a free sample?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples, and we aim to send them within 3 to 5 days, so you can see the colour in your own light before you buy.
